Arenal Volcano
The
volcano is the principal attraction of the area. Fascinating
because of
its constant activity, it can be reached in 1.5 hours taking
the road
from Mystica, which runs along the side of the lake for 44 kilometers.
Part of the road is not asphalted. An unforgettable view of the
volcano, crowned by soft green hills and by the reflection of the lake
can be seen from the hotel. Before 1968, the volcano was considered a
mountain, but in July of that year the volcanic activity began with an
explosion opening three craters and devastating about 12 square
kilometers of surrounding land. If you do not have a car to visit the
area, you can use the public transport that departs from Mystica. |

Hot
Springs
On
the slopes of the volcano you will find the hot springs. Here you can
dip into the warm waters of the river that runs through the vigorous
surrounding vegetation.
There are two sites to visit (with an entrance fee). The Tabacon Resort,
renowned for it's decorated gardens, in which river water has been
canalized into swimming pools at various temperatures. You can enjoy bar
service while immersed in the water and if you wish, massage and facial
cure services are available. If, on the other hand, you want a less
organized adventure, facing the Tabacon there is a cheaper resort,
without swimming pools, where you can enjoy the water in more natural
surroundings.

paradise can be reached from Mystica in less than an hour's drive. The
characteristic of the river is it's turquoise water. Absorbed in the
uncontaminated jungle you can discover the spot where the transparent
water turns light blue. Walking along the riverbank you will at first
reach hot water spring wells and then finally the breath-taking sight of
a marvelous waterfall.
